AMD Zen 2 6 Core CPU Benchmark Leaked, Faster Than Ryzen 7 2700X in Geekbench 4

Another day another Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 series CPU leak and to call this one a shocker would be an understatement! So let’s get straight into it!

A peculiar CPU entry has been spotted in the wild, specifically in Geekbench’s database. The entry carries the same string we’ve seen on all other previous Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 series chips that have been leaked. This particular chip is a 6 core, 12 thread part, and very likely to be the company’s new entry level Ryzen 3000 CPU.

AMD Zen 2 Ryzen 3000 series 6 core CPU Geekbench entry

That’s right, word on the street is that the Ryzen 3000 series will start out with 6 cores and 12 threads as a minimum. This specific chip has a base clock speed of 3.2 GHz and a Turbo of 4.0 GHz. So it’s a six core, twelve thread part with a 3.2-4.0 GHz clock range, does that sound familiar?

Well, it should. Because these are the exact same specs of the leaked Ryzen 3 3300 CPU ^(https://appmarsh.com/amd-ryzen-3000-specs-prices-leaked-upto-16-cores-5-1ghz-on-am4/) that we’ve reported on roughly six months back. Which based on everything we’ve heard to date, is going to be the cheapest Ryzen 3000 series CPU you can buy at $99.

AMD’s New Entry Level Ryzen 3000 Series CPU Could Be Faster Than its Current AM4 Flagship, The Ryzen 7 2700X

So, how well does literally the cheapest next gen Ryzen CPU perform? Well, as it turns out it performs better than the fastest AM4 compatible Ryzen 2000 series CPU you can buy today. The Ryzen 7 2700X. At least in Geekbench 4 that is. Based on the leaked performance figures, the company’s new entry level chip could very well dethrone its current flagship. And that sounds just as insane to read as it was to write.

Now, because the leaked 6 core Zen 2 chip features identical specifications to the previously leaked Ryzen 3 3300, that’s what we’re going to be referring to it here on out for the sake of simplicity.

AMD Zen 2, six core CPU as spotted on Geekbench ^(http://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/13241660)

The Ryzen 3 3300 managed to achieve a single-core score of 5061 and a multi-core score of 25481. In contrast, a Ryzen 7 2700X scores 4923 points and 25209 points respectively ^(https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/amd_ryzen_5_2600x_and_ryzen_7_2700x_review/9). This means that the 3300 with two fewer cores and significantly lower base and turbo clock speeds, has managed to outperform AMD’s current 8 core AM4 flagship part.

Ryzen 3 3300 data as leaked, Ryzen 7 2700X & Ryzen 5 2600X data via OC3D ^(https://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/amd_ryzen_5_2600x_and_ryzen_7_2700x_review/9)

It’s very important to point out that Geekbench is Geekbench, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Ryzen 3 3300 is going to outperform the 2700X at every task or benchmark. But it gives us a decent indication as to what to expect from AMD’s Zen 2 chips.

With that being said, these figures are absolutely astonishing for what is rumored to be an entry level $99 CPU. This begs the question, if this is the new low-end, how crazy is the new high-end going to be? Well, based on everything we’ve seen so far, pretty nuts. Let’s just say things are about to get VERY interesting in the CPU market.
