The^( is a bit long in the tooth now and with ^( , it seems like the console is a few steps shy from being discontinued completely. In fact it seems that Sony is taking steps towards that as the company has confirmed that they are ending the physical production of PS Vita games.
This is according to a report from Kotaku in which they obtained a message sent by Sony to developers in which they announce their “plan to end all Vita GameCard production by close of fiscal year 2018.” Sony has since confirmed to the publication that this is indeed true. However note that this only applies to the physical copies of games, and not the Vita system in general.
This means that developers are more than welcome to keep developing games for the platform, just that they probably shouldn’t expect to see a physical release of their games anymore. For those who prefer physical copies of games we suppose this is a bit of a bummer, but for those who aren’t too fussed, there will be the digital version you can check out.
It is still unclear as to what will become of the PS Vita, but like we said all of this seems to point towards Sony potentially discontinuing the console in the future.
