Spotify Users Will Soon be Able to Listen Along With Their Friends

According to a report by Thurrott ^(https://www.thurrott.com/music-videos/spotify/207643/spotify-will-soon-let-you-listen-along-with-your-friends), Spotify is working on a new ‘Social Listening’ feature that will allow its subscribers to listen along with their friends. While the music streaming giant already allows you to see what your friends are listening to, this new social integration will take its Spotify Connect features to a whole new level.

The source notes that the upcoming Social Listening feature will let Spotify users connect with their friends and listen to the same things they are listening to. They’ll also be able to add their own tracks and even control playback from their mobile devices.

The feature was spotted first by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, according to whom the upcoming feature will work via a scannable code.

Once you scan your friend’s code, you will be able to listen along with them, add tracks to play next, and control playback. Spotify Connect will also tell you how many people are listening along with you at a time.

You also don’t have to connect to a friend every time you want to listen along with them — they will instead show up under the “Already Connected” list where you can connect with them much quicker.

Spotify users will also be able to share direct links that will allow others to join them without having to scan a code.
