According to recent benchmarks which tested the new high-end iMacs, it shows that it represents a 75% speed increase over its predecessors. We’re looking at a single-core score of 6,314 and a multi-core score of 33,713. This is versus the previous model which managed to score 5,684 for single-core, and 19,372 for multi-core.
That being said, we suppose it’s not a surprise that the new iMacs are faster than its predecessors, but at a 75% increase in speed, it does seem like it might be worth the upgrade if you have the cash for it. The new iMacs feature Intel’s 8th-gen processors and while they might not necessarily be sporting new designs (which we’re sure many have hoped for), they do appear to be a pretty decent upgrade.
