Microsoft ^( last year to make it easier for customers to get their hands on the latest Surface products through financing. The company quietly ended the Surface Plus program on August 31st and is no longer accepting enrollments.
Customers on the Surface Plus program could get 24 month payment plans for new devices at zero interest. They were also eligible for an upgrade after only 18 months. The program was aimed at students who wanted to purchase new Surface products regularly without being bothered by having to sell off the previous one. They could just trade it in as part of this program.
The company hasn’t really^( why it has decided to shut down the program merely a year after it was launched. It only said that this decision has been made after “much thought and consideration.”
Microsoft does mention that the program’s end won’t impact existing customers and their financing plans will run their course. Since Microsoft is shutting the Surface Plus portal on October 30th, they will have to contact the company directly if they have any concerns later.
Microsoft doesn’t seem to be shutting down the Surface Plus program for businesses so they will be able to continue taking advantage of the upgrade program.
