You’ll Soon be Able to Play as Your Snapchat Bitmoji in Video Games

Announcing its new Bitmoji for Games SDK today, Snapchat has revealed that users will soon be able to scan an in-game code with the Snapchat app to play as their personalized Bitmoji avatar on PC, console and mobile games, TechCrunch ^(https://www.appmarsh.com/link/https://appmarsh.com/2019/04/25/snapchat-bitmoji-for-games-sdk/) is reporting.

Bitmoji For Games SDK

Snapchat’s new SDK will enable select game studio partners, including Unity, Unreal, and Play Canvas, to integrate 3D Bitmoji as a replacement for their character skins. “It’s kind of a no-brainer to bring Bitmoji into games. Games can be so much more engaging with you…in the game,” said Bitmoji co-founder Ba Blackstock.

“Users will design their avatar in the Bitmoji or Snapchat app, though there may be in-game customization options down the line. If users ask to import their Bitmoji, the game will show a QR Snapcode on the screen that users can scan with the Snapchat camera. That authentication unlocks their Bitmoji to use as an avatar skin in the game.”

Snapchat says the SDK will be free to top developers chosen for the program from PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and other platforms.

Meanwhile, the company has also announced it has hired Kenny Mitchell as its new CMO. He was formerly the VP of marketing at McDonald’s and the head of consumer engagement at Gatorade.

“Kenny’s consumer marketing expertise and his deep understanding of our products will be a great combination for Snap,” writes Snap CEO Evan Spiegel.

“I look forward to helping Evan and Snap continue to tell their story to people around the world, and working with my new colleagues as we define the future of the camera and self-expression,” Mitchell writes.

Fitbit teams up with Snapchat to bring Bitmoji to your watch face

If you’re a Snapchat user and happen to own a Fitbit smartwatch, we’ve got good news. Fitbit has teamed up with Snapchat to bring your personalized Bitmoji avatar to your watch face.

Don’t miss

The new Bitmoji watch face will download your avatar from your account and feature on your Fitbit Versa, Versa Lite, or Ionic’s watch face. It’s also a dynamic watch face which will update throughout the day depending on what you’re doing. For instance, your Bitmoji will dance around an alarm clock when it’s time to wake up, throw confetti when you meet your daily step goal, or morph into an avocado when you log your food. Cute.

Bitmoji are customizable avatars that you can share in just about all messaging apps, and, of course, in Snapchat. If you’re a Snapchat user and haven’t tried out Bitmoji, you’ll have to download the app to your phone (link below) and customize your avatar before you get started with the Fitbit watch face.

To download the watch face, first make sure you have an active Snapchat account and a Bitmoji avatar. Then, open the Fitbit app, select your Fitbit smartwatch, then Clock faces>All clocks and search “Bitmoji” in the search bar. After you select the Bitmoji watch face, you’ll need to link your account in the watch face settings menu. Once that’s done, give it a few minutes to download your Bitmoji avatar and you’re all set.
